So I have been meeting with recruiters, and so far, it is a bittersweet experience. One of them stated that they want their candidates to be in their job roles for at least 5 years to demonstrate loyalty to their employers. What is so funny is that loyalty no longer exists from our own employers. As much as we want to stay in a company for as long as we can, our bosses can terminate us with out any notice, yet expect us to give them a two week notice when we leave. I honestly don’t want to give my job any two week notice to give them “time” to find a replacement candidate. When a layoff or firing occurs, they certainly don’t give you two weeks to give you time to look for something new, and neither do they care if you struggle financially. In this economy, it is not the candidates that aren’t loyal, it is the employer themselves. Unfortunately this is a buyer’s market in the employment world.
